Prof. Dr. Vladimir M. Cvetković is the Founder and President of the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management (SPS-DRM), a national organization based in Belgrade dedicated to strengthening theoretical and applied knowledge in disaster risk management. Through SPS-DRM, he has supported the implementation of quantitative and qualitative research, the organization of national and international scientific events, and the delivery of professional trainings and capacity-building activities in the areas of disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and protection and rescue. The Society also develops a strong publishing activity, producing books, manuals, conference proceedings, and educational materials used across academic and professional communities.
He is also the Founder and Director of the International Institute for Disaster Research (IDR), a research-oriented institution focused on advancing scientific work in disaster studies and disaster risk management. The Institute serves as a hub for basic, applied, and developmental research and is structured through specialized research areas covering disaster phenomenology and hazards, preparedness and mitigation, protection and rescue, recovery, disaster risk governance, and international cooperation and legal frameworks. IDR actively supports young researchers and research teams through mentorship, project development, and publication initiatives, with the aim of generating evidence-based knowledge that can inform policy and practice.
In parallel, Prof. Dr. Cvetković is the Founder and Director of ProSafeNet, a global hub designed to connect safety, security, risk, and emergency professionals and scientists. ProSafeNet promotes international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and dissemination of best practices through a digital platform that brings together research outputs, professional resources, events, and stakeholder networks. The platform is positioned to support multidisciplinary cooperation across academia, public institutions, NGOs, and the private sector—especially in areas where evidence-based risk governance and modern digital tools can strengthen resilience and emergency response.
Alongside these initiatives, Prof. Dr. Cvetković contributes to the international scientific community through editorial leadership. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Disaster Risk Management (IJDRM) and the International Journal of Contemporary Security Studies (IJCSS), and leads editorial activities connected to proceedings and publications developed within the SPS-DRM framework. Through these roles, he supports high-quality peer-reviewed publishing and the dissemination of research and practice relevant to disasters, emergency management, and contemporary security challenges.
