I am very pleased to share that the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Belgrade and Montanuniversität Leoben has now been formally signed, establishing a framework for institutional cooperation for the next five years, until 22 July 2031.
This agreement represents an important step toward further strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Serbia and Austria, opening new opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, teaching activities, project development, mobility, and broader institutional collaboration.
I would especially like to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Harald Raupenstrauch for his continuous support, trust, and personal commitment to building and strengthening the cooperation between our institutions. His engagement was highly important throughout the process.
I would also like to thank Prof. Peter Moser, Rector of Montanuniversität Leoben, for his institutional support and for recognizing the importance of developing stronger academic ties between Montanuniversität Leoben and the University of Belgrade.
I am equally grateful to Prof. Dr. Mladen Milošević, Dean of the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade, for his strong institutional support and contribution to bringing this cooperation to a successful formal conclusion.
As a Full Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Security Studies, and Adjunct Professor at Montanuniversität Leoben, I had the privilege of initiating and coordinating this cooperation and supporting the process of connecting our two universities.
For me, the signing of this Memorandum represents both an important professional milestone and a concrete result of sustained efforts to build stronger academic bridges between Belgrade and Leoben.
Most importantly, this institutional framework provides a strong foundation for developing new opportunities for our researchers, professors, students, and partner institutions, as well as for future joint projects and scientific initiatives.
I look forward to the next chapter of our cooperation and to developing joint activities particularly in the fields of disaster risk management, safety, resilience, environmental security, and sustainable development.
I also look forward to welcoming our colleagues from Montanuniversität Leoben to Belgrade and Serbia in the near future.
