The Fourth Memorial Scientific and Professional Conference “Predrag Marić,” dedicated to contemporary integrated disaster risk management, was successfully held through the joint organization of the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Security Studies, the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia, and the Institute of International Politics and Economics. Once again, the conference confirmed its importance as a meeting point for academia, professional practice, and institutions, with the shared goal of contributing—through dialogue, exchange of experience, and the presentation of new research—to the advancement of disaster risk reduction systems, protection and rescue, and the strengthening of societal resilience.

During the ceremonial part of the conference, the audience was addressed by Prof. Dr. Mladen Milošević, Dean of the Faculty of Security Studies; Dr. Ana Jović Lazić on behalf of Prof. Dr. Branislav Đorđević, Director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics; Prof. Dr. Vladimir Cvetković in his capacity as President of the Organizing Committee; Luka Čaušić, Assistant Minister of the Interior and Head of the Sector for Emergency Management; and Vladan Zagrađanin, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior.

During the ceremonial academy, awards were also presented: the award for the best scientific paper from the Third Memorial Conference was granted to Prof. Dr. Božidar Banović for the paper “The Normative Framework of the European Union for the Control and Risk Management of the Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence,” while the annual “Predrag Marić” Award for outstanding professional contribution was presented to Dragan Ćapin, President of the Firefighters Association of Serbia.

With special respect and reverence, the memory of Police General Predrag Marić was honored—a man who left an indelible mark on the development of the contemporary disaster risk reduction system in the Republic of Serbia. This conference demonstrated that his work and vision continue to live on through institutions, professionals, researchers, and younger generations who are continuing to build a safer, more resilient, and more responsible society.
